US Starters vs. Spain

Ugh, no Landon Donovan as expected, no Demarcus Beasley... no offense?

The starting line-up:
--------------------Johnson--------------------
Lewis----------------Adu---------------Dempsey
--------------Bradley----Edu-------------------
Pearce---Bocanegra---Onyewu----Cherundolo
-------------------Howard----------------------

I complain, but with the glaring absense of Donovan and Beasley the rest of the line-up isn't too bad. We'll be forced to suffer through another inclusion of EJ in the forward role, but we will get a chance to see Adu's first start for the senior team. Edu has been chosen over Mastroeni to partner with Bradley, giving a more skilled center midfield, but I think Mastroeni may have been better suited for allowing Bradley to get forward. That said, I suspect Edu and Bradley will be doing plenty of defending to keep them busy without getting forward. Lewis sliding in on the left for Beasley gives the US some more experience and a dangerous set piece option. Our best scoring chances will likely be from set pieces, so look out for Lewis to have an impact. He also does a nice job defensively, which will allow Pearce to overlap and get forward as Lewis can adequately cover.

What do you think of the line-up? Did you read past Eddie Johnson's name? I am going to adjust my prediction to 2-1 Spain. Villa scores, Torres scores, and Onyewu scores off a set piece!
