I have been away this weekend and will be away much of tomorrow as well, I should be back around kick-off the for the US game and will check back in then. For now:
Friday night at Paetec, the cellar-dwelling Rhinos stunned first place Vancouver with a complete victory, 3-0. Mauricio Salles headed home to open the scoring in the 10th minute. Menyongar added a second almost as soon as the ball was kicked to start the second half, and Salles scored again in the 62nd for his brace. The match wasn't without blemish for the Rhinos, as John Ball saw red in the 65th and was sent off.
On Saturday we saw Spain with a late goal knock off Sweden 2-1, and Russia defeat Greece 1-0, eliminating the Greeks from the quarterfinals. In Saturday's MLS action, the shorthanded Red Bulls delivered a stinker falling 4-1 on the road against DC United, where Emilio scored a hat trick. The July transfer window can't come soon enough for New York. In other action Toronto defeated Colorado 3-1, Colombus got back on track beating Kansas City 3-0, and the Galaxy have a late lead on San Jose on another hat trick from Edson Buddle... you've got to be kidding me!
Tomorrow we'll have Switzerland vs Portugal, Turkey vs Czech Republic in a huge, winner take all game, and USA vs Barbados in qualifiers. I'll check in later Sunday to update, share your thoughts below on any of this weekend's games.
