Weekend Soccer: Can I get an Eh Men?

With a good deal of soccer action this weekend and a great deal of talk about the United States and their series of friendlies against top opponents, I'll highlight the discussing of this weekend's list of games by talking about our neighbors to the north. Canada, not to be outdone by a nation lacking a comparable health care program, will be playing a game at Qwest Field in Seattle tomorrow night at 10 PM EST. Their oppenent is Brazil, so they aren't exactly scheduling the easy wins themselves. I will be very interested to check in on this game as Canada will have many first choice players available including Julian de Guzman, Pat Onstad and DeRo. Hope you don't have Onstad and DeRo on your MLS fantasy team this weekend! Brazil will be considered the obvious favorites, but Canada has not so quietly creeped into the conversation when looking at CONCACAF's top teams. This will be a nice test for them. No word to this point on Brazil's travelling supporters.

Some other friendlies worth noting this weekend include:

Serbia at Germany

Georgia at Portugal

Paraguay at France

Peru at Spain

Wales at Holland

Denmark at Poland

Ukraine at Sweden

England at Trinidad and Tobago

Many teams will look to prepare for Euros while England seeks to improve their record the more to secure their fan base!

MLS action:

Saturday

3:30 PM EST: Guevara-less Toronto FC hosts Beckham/Donovan-less LA Galaxy.

8:30 PM EST: Houston will be without DeRo and Onstad as they host the Red Bulls who hope to bounce back from last week's embarrassment. Red Bull will still be without Dave van den Berg who is expecting the birth of his second child. This will be on MSG (the game, not the birth)

9:30 PM EST: Real Salt Lake hosts San Jose, and THIS is the game FSC choosed to show... excuse me while I make plans for after the Red Bulls game.

10:30 PM EST: Chivas hope to extend the Crew's recent struggles in the last game of the day.

Sunday:

3:00 PM EST: Colorado hosts Dallas, game will be shown on Telefutura, ¿Qué tan bueno es su español? Mine sucks...

6:00 PM EST: Get out to Paetec and watch the Rhinos take on the Timbers and enjoy the festivities that accompany the game as the concert series continues at Paetec. Check back later today for more on the Rhinos including their quest for the US Open Cup.
