In Saturday's action there were a few interesting points to express. The games I caught were the Dynamo vs Rapids match (sorry for not starting the first 30 minutes of running commentary for the Rhinos but this was a good game!) and the Galaxy vs Red Bulls match.
The first match featured... Who? Dynamo!!! Who? Dynamo!!! Not to go all Mike Jones on ya, but it might be time we start talking about the club from Houston. There were some exciting moments tonight as they took a lead on a strange Brian Ching goal when Bouna Condoul missed a ball he ran out for. Colorado equalised, but in the 87th the game was won on a goal by the recently much maligned DeRo who netted the game winner, much to the relief of sad my fantasy team.
The next game I watched was the Red Carpet event between the Red Bulls and the LA Galaxy. Early on it appeared we may be in for some "Sexy Futbol" (good Lord Alexi) but the New York squad struck first as Jozy Altidore turned and fired on goal and the rebound was placed into the net by Danleigh Borman for his first MLS goal. Following the goal we saw Beckham falling down and whining for calls on more than one occasion. As the Red Bulls seemed content to bunker down, MLS All-Star candidate (this is a joke!) Alan Gordon turned and fired home to tie the score. While LA was celebrating Beckham for a goal that had nothing to do with him, Juan Pablo Angel received a nice ball from Dane Richards and touched it around LA's young keeper, Steve Cronin, scoring easily. NY defended comfortably the rest of the match and earned a solid 2-1 win on the road without regulars Claudio Reyna and Seth Stammler.
As for our Rhinos, I'm afraid I don't have great news...
The Rhinos suffered their third loss in four attempts on the road, falling 1-0 in Vancouver Saturday night. This quite sadly extends the scoreless streak to four straight to begin the season. With the home opener approaching I can't help but feel the team desperately needs the return home. I will now officially begin a contest, when will the Rhinos first score a goal and who will score it? Which game will become a poll, if you post a comment for who scores and in what game, the first person to post the correct player and game will win two free Rhino tickets for a home game later this year!
