Rhinos Updates

The Rhinos have announced the arrival of defenders Ryan Heins and Nigel Marples on loan from the Philiadelphia Kixx. Kixx is an indoor team in the MISL. Not too sure how the players will adapt, but if they see action tomorrow the fact that Paetec is field turf should ease the transition. Their arrival will mitigate the Rhinos' concerns in a back third that has been hampered by injuries.

Additionally, pairings have been announced for the US Open Cup with the Rhinos first draw being RWB Adria of the United States Adult Soccer Association. RWB Adria is based in Chicago. Paetec Park hosts the game on June 10th at 7:30 PM. Those who attend may be familiar with RWB forward Jamar Beasley, brother of Demarcus Beasley of the US Nats and Rangers. He was once a highly regarded prospect but he enjoyed the nightlife a bit too much and focused on his game too little.

RWB Adria has been very consistent in recent years but while they have stood out in league play and earned their way to competitions such as the US Open Cup, they have not experienced success against high level opposition having fallen to the Carolina Railhawks 4-1 last year in the first round. I expect a battle as the Rhinos face a highly motivated club, but ultimately in front of a home crowd with a more talented roster, the Rhinos should dispatch of RWB and advance to the second round. Scoring early could make it a rout for the Rhinos, where if they struggle to score as they have in league play, they could certainly make life difficult on themselves.

What do you think of the draw? Expect a win here? Don't care as much about the US Open Cup as league play? Share your thoughts
