Rhino's Postgame Thoughts
I hope everyone has enjoyed their Friday night, and I hope we can look forward to better performances from the Rhinos in the future. In fairness, we witnessed a club that was uncertain until shortly before training camp that they would in fact have a team, a club with several new players, and a club with a new and inexperienced coach in Darren Tilley. When all is said and done, a loss is a loss, and with so many road games to open the campaign I will make no excuses, and I doubt Coach Tilley will either. This team must find a way to win games on the road in the early going to set themselves up for the postseason. It may be early to think of such things, but the Rhinos did not look two goals inferior tonight, and earning points on the road can be critical for earning a place in the postseason. In fairness, the early injury to Atiba Charles may easily have disrupted the comfort level of the back four, but this is soccer and these things happen. I thought the midfield performed well, Scott Vallow came up with some key saves, but ultimately the final pass in the attacking third was lacking. To become successful on the road that final ball must be more effective so our attempts result in goals. Tonight we had almost the same amount of opportunities, but theirs were set up better and found the back of the net, Rochester's did not.
