In the highly anticipated home opener at Paetec Park tonight the Rhinos struggled with similar issues that plagued them on the road. The final connection between the playmakers and the forwards went a bit lacking as the team again failed to find the back of the net. Their best chance came off an athletic attempt my Mauricio Salles that seemed destined for the top corner, but the keeper was there to watch as the ball just missed. The only goal of the game came when a Battery forward flicked the ball over the backline to an onrushing Randi Patterson who popped the ball over Scott Vallow who had come off his line.
When all the extra curricular activities of the night were over with, it was hard to get three things off my mind.
1) A more attacking style is needed as we suffer through another scoreless effort from our home club who now stand at 0-4-2 with an anemic 1 goal scored, an average of .166 goals per game.
2) A little disappointing in the attendance department, whoever questions about weather, local youth soccer tournaments and a slow start for the Rhinos are all contributing factors. The official attendance was announced at 7, 132. One thing that is clear is Clark is going the extra mile to have happy fans and earn our support. Give this group some time, with new management, new coaching staff, new players and an uncertain off-season it shouldn't come as a total shock that the team is off to a rough start.
3) Bo Bice may sing better than I do, but I have a better haircut.
